WARNO. You may know this acronym from your time in the military. WARNO stands for WARNING ORDER. A military WARNO is essentially a “heads up” notification to subordinate units or personnel that a potential mission is coming. This provides them the opportunity to begin mission prep and basic planning, even if the mission is neither confirmed nor fully developed. A Warning Order gives troops, including lower-level leadership, the chance to gather maps, consider equipment loadouts, coordinate communications, plan vehicle needs, and even prepare mentally for what’s to come if and when there is a final Operations Order.

A WARNO is typically delivered verbally, ideally without a significant amount of unnecessary administrative interference. Although you know the brass loves its power points and “formal” delivery…

But that doesn’t matter here, because that’s not the definition we’re using!  Nope, here we mean:
