A Bucket of Balls & Backbone like a Boss – Trooper Stan Scott

This is Trooper Stan W. Scott, who fought with A Section, 3 Troop, No. 3 Commando (British Army), during WWII (1943-1945).

Trooper Stan Scott 3 Commando -2

During his service, he hit the beach on D-Day, helped to relieve and consolidate the area around Pegasus Bridge near Benouville, participated in five assault river crossings (the Maas, Rhine, Weser, Aller and Elbe), was involved in the liberation of the concentration camp at Belsen and fought in several other campaigns. Scott was captured by the Germans at Honfleur. His Troop, initially 75 men strong (all ranks), was reduced to 19 by late 1944 and eventually disbanded.

Trooper Scott is going to demonstrate the use of the Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife (which you might have read about earlier) using a Mark 3 knife.

“If I’m going into somebody and I’m going to use this, I don’t have to push it forwards. Just grab him and pull him onto the knife. You got it? But mostly, if you’re going to do a job on a sentry, you don’t do what they say – lift his chin up and cut his throat like that. Yes, lift his chin up, but put the knife in by the jugular vein, which is both sides of the throat, push it through, punch it forward. You rip out the lot. Bit of a messy job, but that’s it.”

There are other dudes like this. If you’re interested, read about Edgar Walter Dudley Coventry right here. He was an officer of D Company, Rhodesian Volunteer Battalion during the Talvisota (Winter War). You’ll be glad you did – after all, this is the guy who jumped into Mozambique with the Zimbabwe Paras armed with a walking stick and a Browning semi-auto.

More video from Trooper Scott is below, you should take time to watch. You can read more about Trooper Scott here.
