The Vortex Strike Eagle 1-10×24 FFP is a compact Low Power Variable Optic (LPVO) featuring a first-focal-plane EBR-8 reticle and motion-activated illumination. Design and Focal Plane Integration

First introduced by Vortex in early 2026, the 1-10×24 FFP model represents a shift in the Strike Eagle line toward higher magnification in a reduced footprint. Because the EBR-8 reticle is located in the first focal plane (FFP), the subtensions for BDC holdovers and ranging remain technically accurate across the entire magnification range.

Illumination and Power Management

A notable technical feature of this model is the motion-activated illumination system. The optic is designed to power the reticle immediately upon detecting movement, while a 10-minute auto-shutoff timer helps preserve CR2032 battery life.

• Reticle: Glass-etched EBR-8 (available in MOA or MRAD)

Like the 1-8 version, the 1-10 has the EBR 8 MOA BDC reticle. However, there is also the option of using an MRAD BDC reticle. It’s a mil-tree reticle with additional BDC drop dots nested inside.

Morell explains, “We thought it was going to be too busy and there’s going to be too much going on…then after we prototyped a couple different designs, we found it was actually pretty usable.  The other nice thing with it is, if you want to run illumination, every other drop dot is illuminated.”

They also eliminated the ranging features on the 12:00 position to open up the field of few (a change they received from their customers on the EBR-8 reticle).

Field Dimensions and Rail Footprint

At 10 inches in total length, this optic occupies less rail space than many traditional 1-6x or 1-8x LPVOs. This compact design is particularly relevant to users running secondary rail-mounted accessories, such as laser aiming modules or clip-on NODs.
