Nothing shoots as pinpoint quite as easily as a full-size rimfire pistol. While there are plenty of bull-barreled semi-autos to choose from, the alternative is a medium-frame revolver. The Ruger GP100 and Smith & Wesson 617 are two compelling ten-shot options, but Colt is back and better than ever with their own take: the Colt King Cobra 22.
Initially debuted as a 4.25 inch and 6 inch model in 2023, the King Cobra 22 family now includes a 2 inch snub-nose and 3 inch compact model. All sport durable stainless steel construction, a full under lugged barrel, and a vent rib not seen on the new .357 Magnum version of the King Cobra. Best of all, this miniaturized Python sports amongst the best rimfire pistol triggers out there. At least, that is the opinion of our own Jim Maybrick, who put the 2 inch snubbie and 4.25 inch standard model through their paces.

I’m sorry but a 2 inch .22 revolver in my view is a waste of good money. I believe a .22 handgun can be a satisfactory defense weapon but not in a 2 inch barrel. It isn’t even a good gun for plinking unless you do all your shooting at 20 feet. A 3 inch barrel — the jury is out. But a 2 inch barrel a universal thumbs down. A solution in search of a problem. Not enough velocity imparted to even the hottest .22 round and with the ultra short sight radius, unless you are belly button to belly button, depending strictly on luck to hit anywhere that would matter. And if all I had for self-defense was a 2 inch .22 I wouldn’t want to be b.b. to b.b. Your attacker probably wouldn’t even know he had been shot unless you were able to put it in his eyeball.
