A good pair of tactical shooting glasses provides essential protection in the field. Bloc sunglasses, specifically their BOLT tactical eye pro, are a relatively new option in the front half of Eyes and Ears, but they’re showing lots of promise.
We’re told these sunglasses have been meticulously designed to meet the demands of outdoor enthusiasts, law enforcement officers, and firearm owners. I have been using my BOLT tactical sunglasses for a while now, and I like what I see.
Here’s a quick rundown of why I’m optimistic about BOLT model Bloc sunglasses.
The Advantage of BOLT Tactical Shooting Glasses
One of the standout features of BLOC BOLT sunglasses is their exceptional lens technology. The lenses are made from high-impact polycarbonate, which helps them withstand the rigors of tactical operations. Unlike standard sunglasses, which often use cheaper materials that can easily scratch or shatter, the BLOC BOLT lenses offer unparalleled durability. This high-impact resistance is important for anyone in an environment that causes a risk of debris or accidental impact to their eyes.
Besides their durability, the lenses provide 100% UV protection, shielding your eyes from harmful UVA, UVB, and UVC rays. This is particularly important for those who spend a lot of time outdoors. Too much UV exposure can lead to serious eye conditions. The clarity of the lenses is also worth pointing out. Cheap glasses give me a headache after a short time because of the poor-quality lens.
When doing tactical or commando applications, you need a lens with a sharp and distortion-free view that enhances situational awareness.
Tactical and Comfortable?
Tactical gear and comfort are not really two things that go together. But occasionally the stars align, fairy dust gets sprinkled down from heaven, and the KC Chiefs win the Super Bowl… Oh, and somebody makes something tactical that’s comfortable.
The frames are constructed from lightweight, yet robust materials, ensuring they can withstand tough conditions without causing discomfort. The nose pads are soft and flexible, and the temple tips have a rubber padding that helps fit all sizes of heads. I’m not judging, but some people have bigger heads than others. I let one of my big-headed buddies try them on and he loved them.
I’ve used the BOLT glasses for search warrants at work and obstacles on the range. So far, they have stayed securely on my face. I use the elastic band to make sure I don’t lose them if they come off, but so far, so good.
Interchangeable Lens
Like the old infomercials used to say; wait, that’s not all. The BOLT sunglasses come with interchangeable lenses, allowing you to customize them to your own needs. My pair came with a black tint, amber, and clear pair of lenses. It’s easy to change the lens and the case holds all of them with the glasses.
Whether you’re shooting at the range on a sunny day or patrolling in low-light conditions, you can quickly switch lenses to suit your needs. This versatility makes them an excellent investment, as you’re essentially getting multiple pairs of sunglasses in one.
BOLT Tactical Shooting Glasses vs. The Market
When compared to other tactical sunglasses on the market, the BLOC BOLT sunglasses consistently stand out in several key areas. Many other brands offer high-impact lenses, but few match the durability and clarity of BLOC BOLT’s polycarbonate lenses. The combination of toughness and optical precision is a hallmark of the BLOC brand. This makes these sunglasses a top choice for those who need reliable eye protection without compromising on vision quality.
I mentioned they were comfortable, right? While some tactical sunglasses can feel bulky or cause pressure points after prolonged use, BLOC BOLT’s lightweight and adjustable design ensures a comfortable fit for all-day wear. An elastic strap is included for those who want the added security of keeping them on when doing Chuck Norris shit.
Fog is another important thing to point out. Just about every pair of glasses I’ve used at work over the years fogs up. And almost all of them claim to be “anti-fog.” So far, these have not fogged up on me, which is important when you’re serving a search warrant at a house full of tweakers.
The reason I tried this pair (from this brand) is that I broke my last pair (of a different brand) during a raid.
I’m not sure what happened to them, but the lens cracked. BLOC claims the BOLT glasses are “virtually unbreakable.” While I didn’t try to break them for this review, they do feel pretty solid. And if the lens did happen to crack, at least I have two more pair to replace them with.
Ready to Protect Your Eyes?
The BLOC BOLT tactical sunglasses offer a great combination of durability, clarity, comfort, and style. According to BOLT, the lens has a ballistic resistance of 744 ft/s – 227 m/s with an Anti-fog, and anti-scratch coating.
Having an adjustable fit nose piece makes them easy to wear for long hours, and that is something I have tested. Even the case they come with is nice and holds all the accessories for the glasses. It zips up and has MOLLE for attaching to a vest or bag if desired. When it comes to tactical gear, every accessory counts and sunglasses are no exception. I mean, you only have two eyeballs, so you should protect them, right?
If you’re looking for reliable, stylish, and high-performing sunglasses, the BLOC BOLT tactical sunglasses look to be an excellent investment.
