The male to female ratio when it comes to outdoors clothing is severely imbalanced. This is true in both the firearms and hunting industry. Men have a ton of options as far as clothing, women, not so much. Additionally, the options that women do have lack in quality, fit, and options. While this seems as though this area of complaint is opinion based, in the hunting industry a lack of properly made clothing can mean a lack of food on the table. Why should women have to skimp on fit and look of their hunting attire? Well, KUIU, a large name in the outdoors/hunting industry has released their women’s line and while it is still just the beginning and a smaller line, the feminine fit and quality stand up to the KUIU name. The favorite within the line up? Their pants.

KUIU is known for having clothing that moves while still being durable and resistant to tears while hiking through brush. They’re also known for their many patterns and options that fit to the hunting season game and also the weather within that season. KUIU Womens Attack Pants (All Weather)

The Patterns

Valo, Verde, Vias, Ash, GunMetal. Ash and Gunmetal are both one color and a new release. Which I am honestly pretty grateful for as I’d like to wear these pants to events that don’t necessarily need the hunting pattern.

One of the cooler things that KUIU does is push out “gear lists” based on type of game being hunted. For instance, if you click on Shop By Hunt a page will pop up with different types of game. Say you click on turkey season (it’s coming up) you will sear the gear options from KUIU that features the darker green blocked clothing  with some light tans mixed in. This is the Verde pattern. While it only lists the male options (gag) simply go to the women’s section and choose your clothes in that same pattern.

Other Items in the KUIU Womens Line

Other items listed on the Womens Line page range from everything such as warm down winter clothing to packs designed for the womans body. The next thing that I would purchase would probably be the Guide jacket for women. It is super durable while being a perfect layer for fall/winter.

The Womens Guide Jacket is a great next purchase option after the pants. It is meant to be an outer layer soft shell for mild and colder weather and is water resistant. Personal Thoughts

I initially saw people wearing KUIU when attending National Rifle League Hunter matches as it brought out a lot of hunters to shoot in the league. I then started seeing the name on various social media sites with hunters wearing it. The gear looked well made and thought out.
These NRL Hunter matches make you shoot in some wild brush and sharp rocky areas which really started my venture in finding durable clothing instead of the thin or non-flexible pants that I usually wear at matches. After a quick google search of “womens hunting pants” the name KUIU was shown along with the word “women”. KUIU is one of the VERY FEW companies to make a women’s line and actually do well at it. Mind you that they don’t offer every piece that the men have online, but it is starting to grow.

I first purchased the “Tiburon Pant” as this was in the heat of the summer and I wanted a durable light pant. I also wanted to get the sizing right. I purchased a size 4. I am 5’2 and 130 lbs. It fit great! It allowed me to still have curves and had a flattering straight leg that wasn’t too tight or loose. I have shot various matches with these and taught classes in wet nasty areas. The pants allowed me to move, be cool in 100 degree weather, and not keep stains.

I then went back and purchased the “Attack Pant” in a size larger due to wanting to be able to add a layer underneath. This was size 6. While the legs were a little longer (to be expected). They fit comfortably around the stomach, still have a feminine fit, and allow for just enough room for a small base layer. The material isn’t loud nor is it hard to move in. I will probably be purchasing both pants in the gunmetal or black colors.
