Henry Repeating Arms, one of America’s premier rifle and shotgun makers, released its first magazine-fed, semi-auto pistol caliber carbine: The Henry Homesteader.  This classically styled weapon has that quintessential American rifle appearance. The design makes sense coming from a company with the motto, “Made in America, or not made at all.”  It possesses a truly heritage appearance, but don’t let its appearance fool you! The Homesteader comes packed with many modern features.

Features

The Henry Homesteader shoots 9mm Luger ammunition and comes with removable magazine well adapters allowing users to utilize several of the most common magazines including Glock, Sig Sauer, and Smith & Wesson. Yes, it can take Glock magazines! There are three different versions, allowing gun aficionados to choose the adapter that is right for them. It also comes from the factory with 5-round and 10-round Henry 9mm magazines.  This versatility, along with its compact size, make the Homesteader weapon indispensable for everyday use.  Its smaller size means it has increased maneuverability in close quarters and makes storage easier. An American Classic

Other features include a threaded barrel for easily attaching suppressors. These equipment options work well for anyone with nearby neighbors whether at home or on the range. Its central controls mean it is easily adaptable to right or left handed users. Shooting with the Homesteader is simple too because in addition to its small size and caliber, it has a reciprocating mass located in the forearm, causing a very low recoil.  Fully adjustable sights for easy target acquisition and durable finishes come standard.  The non-slip and leather-like texture on the warm, American walnut furniture adds to its overall aesthetic and functionality.

A major benefit of owning a Henry Homesteader is its affordability to shoot.  Since it runs 9mm ammunition, it is much more budget friendly to spend a day on the range with than, say, a 5.56mm which is the standard AR-15 round. Suggested retail price for the Henry Homestead starts at $928, a steal for such a versatile and easy-to-use weapon.  Models with additional mag wells start at $959.

Nice – for what it is. Not so sure it is any ‘better’ than the multitude of other PPCs out there though.

Henry continues to innovate but for some odd reason they cannot (or will not?) keep up with the demand for some of their other offerings. For example, I’ve been trying to get my mitts on one of their lever actions chambered in .327Federal Magnum for several years now to no avail. The word I got back from their rep was that they only make certain models in certain calibers in limited quantities……………NOT complaining mind you, just making an observation.
