We pulled our obligatory SLLS halt (minus the second S) at the Crye Precision booth at SHOT this year and were given the opportunity to talk to Johanna Bloomfield about some of their upcoming releases. Ms. Bloomfield, their lead apparel designer, walked us through a number of pending additions to their line (much of which is evolved from prior Crye Precision G3 apparel).
Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
Some of that includes:
- The G 3.5 range short (a newer iteration of the Crye Precision G3 Range Short)
- An updated version of the Crye Precision G3 Combat Uniform with cut-resistant material reinforcing the arterial regions of the wearer
- A lightweight, breathable, hard-shell jacket and pants
- The Low Burden Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) jacket and pants (based on the G4/VTX uniform)
The upgraded G3 Combat Uniform compelled most of our attention, but that low-burden git-up looks pretty sweet too, assuming it works…which we do, since it’s Crye. Or at least that’s been our experience.
Now cue the gnashing of teeth and Critical-of-Crye-Caviling from assorted readers and viewers over how much Crye Precision costs.
Grunts: cavil
But listen, we get it. Their gear ain’t cheap. Neither is 20 Year Family Reserve Pappie Van Winkle, nor a Cohiba Serie M. If you’d rather swill Workhorse Red Horse Rye, smoke the King Edward cigar you found under the rental car seat, or haute doorkicker couture from YKS JOOB, then get after it! We won’t judge; you do you. But your ass won’t look as good as Doug’s if you’re wearing a Rothco-Condor mishmash.
Which isn’t to say we don’t welcome reasoned, well-articulated feedback from those of you out there wearing this. That sort of constructive criticism or feedback is welcome, so if you have any applicable experience you’d like to share (on this or any other topic), then don’t hesitate to weigh in.
Crye Precision is online here; you can learn more about Ms. Bloomfield on her website. Pretty cool body of work, there.
A variety of fits for a variety of guns for a variety of optics for a variety of carry styles!
