So Day 2 of the Will Petty VCQB course was nothing short of a mind grenade. Petty might just be the physical embodiment of VCQB astucity. Temples were indexed, rumors were squashed and invaluable techniques were learned. Needless to say, minds were blown. Hell – we even learned simple, applied algebraic ballistic solutions and some science, bitches!
Grunts: astucity.
A hella lotta mental lubricant had to be applied before today’s session really got rolling so we could properly understand some of the things we saw. Parlor tricks, you say? Magic you ask? No sez we, fuckers. Will Petty is a master at breaking down the science and practical real life reasoning behind every movement and shooting position that might be involved in the fast, furious, up close type fighting that would typify a VCQB gunfight. He showed us an entirely new way of looking at a vehicle, not least the offensive/defensive uses of 16 different locations of cover in a typical passenger vehicle (18 for an SUV). While we can’t go into too much detail on the course curriculum and all the truly badass techniques that were taught and applied on Day 2 just yet (most of us are smoked), we’ll do more thorough reviews in the future. We can tell you that when this instructional video is released by Firelance Media, it will completely change the way you look at fighting around vehicles, and it will be worth every. single. penny.
You might not believe how poorly most rounds will fare against a vehicle, but you will; including the .308. Seeing is believing boys and girls (as is fucking doing if you have a range or abandoned strip club that will accommodate it). You’re gonna want to see this shit.
Day 3 is looming. We’re preparing to apply all the methods of the madness and test our mettle on a some of Petty’s intense (and humbling) courses of fire. We’re bruised, sore and ready for more – but that’s nothing a little Templeton Rye won’t take care of. We’ll have a follow-up of Day 3 tomorrow, as well as a wrap-up of the course and quite a few subsequent pieces on what the BBC crew has seen and done up here at the phenomenal 88 Tactical‘s training facility.
There was, as y0u might expect, some tomfuckery as well as training today. Have a good time, and the hospitality all these genetically modified Nebraska boys keep showing is just badass.
We mentioned Templeton Rye, right?
Here’s a few pictures from the day.
More to follow.

Looks like fun and work and learning all rolled into one… HOW GOOD WAS THAT ?!? I’m pleasantly surprised at the proliferation of direct action training facilities which have been going balls to the wall for decades now, along with other facilities offering CT, SAR, sniper quals, combat medical skills etc. World class stuff available to modern day sheepdogs and lap-top-commandos as well. WHAT A COUNTRY!!!
