I prefer shooting revolvers and my favorite cartridges start with the numbers 32. I think there are too many 9mm handguns out there and the 9mm Luger round, while perfectly fine, is not the best round for all things or all people. With that said, my nightstand handgun is a classic 9mm handgun: the CZ 75B.

In an era of polymer frames and striker designs, the CZ 75B is one of the original Wonder Nine pistols still being made. It is a double-action/single-action hammer-fired pistol with an all-steel construction. Originally made as a double-stack duty gun, CZ still makes the 75B in a few different variations for both duty and competition work.

In this video, I detail my particular CZ 75B. The positives include the use of an all-steel frame, which tames recoil, whether you are shooting standard pressure of +P 9mm ammunition. The ability to carry the pistol in a cocked-and-locked configuration is an added bonus and it has a superior trigger over competing Wonder Nines like the Beretta 92 and Browning Hi Power. The one downside is carrying with the hammer down, as the manual safety does not de-cock the pistol. As with every handgun, a careful weighing of the positives over negatives is needed and the CZ 75B is the one that stays in my lockbox while plenty of others have come and gone.
