Sig Sauer’s venture into striker-fired pistols is equal parts great success and spectacular failure. The P365 created the micro-compact 9mm platform and is among the most popular carry pistols on the market today. Their P320 was adopted by the US Army in 2017, but that was the high-water mark of that design. But don’t let the problems with the P320 put you off Sig, particularly their old school hammer-fired models like the P220 and P226. There is also the SP2022, which was Sig’s first polymer pistol.
The Sig SP2022 melded the then-emerging polymer-frame concept with Sig’s proven DA/SA hammer fired design. The design proved successful, though it has been superseded by Sig’s striker guns, at least, for the moment. Initially built around the .40 S&W cartridge, the SP2022 is only available in 9mm Luger at this time. Our own Jim Maybrick shows off this low-key Hall of Fame pistol here:
