If you’re an ordinary firearms enjoyer, you may have heard of the website or even visited ARMSLIST. In fact, they reportedly have more than two and a half million users, so there is a pretty good chance you’re one of them. They also have over 1,300 registered FFL dealers involved, which isn’t anything to sneeze at either.
But how much do you actually know about it? More importantly, what do you know about the strange firearms that change hands on what is effectively gun craigslist? (No, there isn’t a missed connections section for that bastard blaster you saw in passing at your local gun show.)
So What Really Is ARMSLIST?
Here’s the skinny, ARMSLIST is a private online marketplace. They don’t actually sell firearms at all. Instead, it functions as a marketplace for its massive network of registered FFL dealers to put a wide range of guns in front of prospective gun owners. Individuals can also put up their own items for sale, peer to peer. Hence the gun craigslist bit from before.
This network allows people in the United States to list items for sale online, communicating safely, securely, and because you’re working directly with FFLs, you’ll be legally buying with a reportedly very low risk of scams or fraud. So whether you’re a dealer, manufacturer, or individual gun owner, Armslist provides you with an alternative to auction sites. In addition, the website has much lower fees and, interestingly enough, zero commission fees. All while conducting business easily and legally, with accountability on both sides of a transaction.
The ARMSLIST website also has a guns, gear, and accessories blog. They’ve got reviews on hundreds of products you’d might be interested in owning.
Buying or Selling?
The big thing you should know about buying a gun on ARMSLIST is that you don’t need an account to buy a gun. As a non-subscriber, you can still purchase from the ARMSLIST network of over 1,300 FFL dealers. However, as you’d expect, having an account opens up some new possibilities for you as a customer.
There are two different account types, the Premium Vendor account, and the Personal account. Each version is adjusted to the seller’s needs, which provides options that many online companies don’t offer.
ARMSLIST Legal Defense Fund
Armslist also helps maintain their Legal Defense Fund that fights to protect the 2nd Amendment rights of Americans, focusing on issues regarding the internet primarily. They also provide news articles about guns, gun laws, and opinionated articles to educate the public on matters affecting the 2nd Amendment.
If this sounds interesting to you, we think you should give it a shot. Just make sure that you’re being careful, as with any online transaction like this. But if you’re not interested in buying or selling products, you can always support the Legal Defense Fund. It can’t hurt to help ensure the 2nd Amendment rights are not taken away.
