Some of you may be familiar with this well-known photo of HK’s Jim Schatz demonstrating the dependability of the 7.62mm HK21 belt-feed system.

You might not; however, be familiar with the history around their whole series of 5.56 and 7.62 NATO light machine guns that started in the late 1960’s and ran right up to 2004.

About the Author

Lawrence ‘Strike-Hold!’ Holsworth is a veteran of the 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne. Following his military service, he transitioned into a marketing and communications career within the tactical gear and equipment industry. Holsworth is a keen amateur historian as well. He contributes news about small arms and tactical gear to various places, amd (when there is time) articles about airborne and special operations history. He’s *also* a bona fide camouflage geek. Despite the inappropriate inner grunt thoughts and humor that never really goes away, his work reflects a deep appreciation for military heritage and a commitment to providing insightful analyses of current developments, as well as historical detail. Without smartassery. Mostly.
