The local warlords over at Tactical Sh!t are currently selling some level 4 ceramic plates (specifically, shooters cut multi curve level 4 plates) for an improbable price: $99 each. Now, that might not be a big deal if these weren’t NIJ certified or if they came from some retailer you never heard of, but that’s not the case. These 10×12 shooter cut plates are straight outta Chase Tactical. Slava Ukraine…
10×12 Armor Plates Intended for Ukraine
BLUF: The 4SAS4 is a Chase Tactical armor plate from a Ukrainian contract overrun. The 10×12 shooter-cut, multi-curve plate has the exact same specs and certifications as Chase’s best-selling 4SAS7 model (which has more 30+ 5-star reviews on the Chase Tactical website). They’ve just been rebranded for export to Ukraine and are available exclusively at Tactical Sh!t.
Chase Tactical Rifle Plates: Contract Overrun
According to the initial release, a military contract held by Chase Tactical for NIJ certified Level 4 plates has recently been filled. Its completion, however, left an overrun of several hundred 10×12 shooter-cut plates. This armor, labeled 4SAM, have identical features to Chase’s 4S7AS4.
NIJ Level IV rated armor (i.e., level 4 plates) has been tested to .30 cal steel core armor piercing rifle ammunition.
If you’re like most of us, that number/SKU might not mean much to you. We’ll provide details below.
Note: Chase Tactical describes the 4SAS7 Level IV Rifle Armor Plates as “…NIJ 04/05 Certified Stand Alone Multi-Curve Plates. The 4SAS7 is also DEA Compliant taking the ballistic performance above and beyond NIJ 06 Standards. Providing protection from Armor Piercing munitions, the 4SAS7 is an ideal choice for end users seeking an affordable high performing ballistic resistant armor plate.”
Substitute in 4SAS4 there for 4SAS7 and it should allay any worries one might have regarding production authenticity and QC.

Slava Ukraine Meaning
What does Slava Ukraine mean, you ask? Glad you asked.
“Slava Ukraine” is an evolved form of the already Romanized/Westernized Slava Ukraini!, or “Glory to Ukraine!” Here in the U.S. that’s the phrase we tend to hear the most (particularly after the video of Oleksandr Matsiievskyi’s last words). However, there’s actually a traditional response associated with the phrase: Heroiam Slava!, or, “To the heroes – glory!”
There is some contention as to how the Slava Ukraini was first used and why. Some of them aver that a Ukrainian poet named Taras Shevchenko use a version of the phrase (“Glory of Ukraine”) in the poem To Osnovianenko. That work was published in 1840.
The Kyiv Independent says,
“The phrase can be traced back over a century and is tied to Ukrainians’ efforts to build an independent state, most notably in the face of enduring Russian aggression. A similar historical slogan, “Žyvie Bielaruś!” is also used today by the Belarusian democratic opposition in their struggle against Belarusian dictator Alexander Lukashenko, whose nearly three decades in power has been backed by Russia.”
