As many of you long-time readers will know, 1/6th scale action figures have a huge place in our hearts. So, it’s always so nifty to see other folks in the industry embrace the 1/6th scale lifestyle. While we were at SHOT 2025, we ran into the folks at HRT Tactical, who have decided to start doing some collaborations with Black Ops Toys to bring their own kit to scale – which we’re always on board for.
HRT Tactical x Black Ops Toys
Black Ops Toys is selling two separate limited edition HRT figures – One HRT Team Leader, which was initially a SHOT Show Exclusive last year, and another pre-order for the HRT Minuteman, which comes out in March/April of 2025. I got to talk for a while with the HRT Marketing guys, and they seemed more than excited to talk about all the work that goes into a project like this.
HRT Team Leader
So their initial push into the 1/6th world happened during last year’s SHOT with the HRT Team Leader, which primarily uses HRT Tactical kit (They’ve got a complete list of every piece of kit this little operator is wearing on the store listing.) Black Ops Toys had reached out to HRT looking for specs and wanting to make individual pieces, and the owner of HRT is a fan of 1/6th action figures – So it built from there, and man, did they do good work.
You can still get these over at Black Ops Toys, but there seem to have only been 300 of the HRT Team Leader complete kits made, so I’m not sure how many of them are left. Better nab one while you can if you’re a collector! Also, I am not 100% sure, but it may have been “Easy & Simple” that made the figure. Black Ops is the retailer, but I am unsure of the nature of the companies and their relationships.
HRT Minuteman – NEW 2025
Now, let’s talk about what you’re here for, the HRT Minuteman. After the first years were as successful as they were, they decided to do another for this SHOT. The goal of the load-out was to provide a more “civilian kit” for their operator, hence the Minuteman title. The passion and detail are there; it’s always awesome to see companies branch out and do promotions and collaborations outside the norm.
The folks at the booth, especially Chris, had so many interesting points to make about what 1/6th scale means to people. What might come across as a collectible toy at the surface level can mean so much more to someone. One of the things they mentioned people brought up last year was people giving action figures to their friends retiring but in their era-appropriate gear. Sort of a shadow box situation, I thought it was a super neat idea.
I, for one, am glad HRT is contributing and cross-pollinating with this adjacent world and helping ensure these little operators have the most accurate kit possible. So, whether you’re a 1/6th scale enthusiast, a fan of HRT Tactical, or appreciate seeing cool collaborations, these figures are definitely worth checking out.
