Cold weather shooting gloves aren’t always an option either. Sometimes you just have to wear what you have to wear, even if it’s not optimal for going heeled.

A good chunk of the country is in a deep freeze right now, with temperatures plunging into the single digits and below. It becomes necessary to wear warm clothes, hats, and gloves if you’re going to spend any time outside.
The problem is gloves that actually keep your fingers warm in such weather also make it difficult or impossible to use a typical handgun.
Before you venture out into the winter wasteland again, take a moment to attempt to draw and dry-fire your gun with thick winter gloves on. (Please do this with an unloaded firearm, lest you have a negligent discharge trying to cram a fat gloved finger into a pistol’s trigger guard.)
The SP101 cannot be operated with these gloves on. The thick index finger inhibits the full range of motion of the trigger.
Cold weather shooting gloves aren’t always an option, depending on where you work and what you do. The movement required to strip a glove from your strong hand should be a practiced drawstroke consideration.
I have thinner gloves, but when it’s in the single digits, these are the ones that keep my hands from freezing. I have mittens for when it’s colder than that.
Removal of the glove may need to become part of your drawstroke. Give it some consideration, and let’s hope for spring.

I live in Northern Norway and found that putting merino wool inserts into the Mechanix “winter” gloves works perfectly! being one who lives in the cold north I have to adapt considerably! Give it a try! You are further south than I am.
