You might remember reading our article about how to make a DIY lightweight camping/ backpacking stove here. Well, Vertex Outdoors has released a nifty little commercial solution that’s worth checking out. The only thing lighter than the Vertex Outdoors Ultralight Stove is no stove at all. It weighs only 50 grams and packs completely flat at a thickness of only 2.5mm so when you put this in your rucksack you won’t crush or break it. Says VO, “The innovative patent-pending design assembles in seconds, and provides a full wind screen to shield fuel tablets or alcohol burners that directs the heat where you need it. That means you’ll cook faster using less fuel.”
This stove will reportedly boil 16 ounces of water in 6 to 8 minutes using a single fuel tablet.
The Vertex Outdoors Stove is constructed of tempered 301 stainless steel and includes its own rip-stop nylon storage sleeve which helps preventing charcoal from getting all over your gear. This ultralight stove is designed for pots at least 3.5 inches in diameter.its a pretty clever and simple design, so it might be worth a detailed look in the future.
