XS Sights Company History

Based in Fort Worth, Texas, XS Sight Systems was founded in 1997 When Ashely Emerson and the late XS Sights president, Ed Pastusek formed A&E Mfg with the shared belief that “products should be designed based on where, when and how they are to be really used, with results from field testing taking precedence over everything else, then manufactured to the highest standard and back with a no-nonsense customer service policy.”

Since then, the company has evolved and acquired different names as you can see in the image below.

As described on the company website,

Our company began back in early 1996 in the creative imagination of Ashley Emerson. He was dissatisfied with not only the night sights of the time but also the aperture hunting sights that were being offered as well. He had found that they were barely altered adaptations of target sights both of which had multiple drawbacks for the application and that the hunting sights were way too fragile to boot.

Emerson and Pastusek consulted with a lengthy list of experts and law enforcement officers to help with the XS Sight designs. The sight configuration for handguns is a “V” rear blade with a dot front sight. As the company advises, “This gives the user considerable advantages in the highly dynamic world of threat situations. The large white area around the tritium in the front sight allows the user to better see the front sight in the mid to low light conditions that are so prevalent in these situations too. The large size of our Big Dot allows unparalleled speed of user acquisition and indexing onto threats in all sorts of light and stress conditions.”

XS Sights’ hunting Ghost Ring Aperture and white-stripe front sights give iron-sight using hunters tough, fast-to-use sights that are often paired with their scope mounts.

Now the company is under the leadership of Ed Pasusek’s son, Jon:

Tritium License

August 27, 2019. XS Sights announced the receipt of their tritium license and installation of tritium into its own sights. The licensing process took two years to accomplish, but now they can access more opportunities within the night sight industry. Since receiving the license, offer the same tritium installation service to other OEM partners within the industry.

3-Dot RAM Night Sights

August 8, 2019. XS Sights released the new 3-Dot RAM (radioactive material) Night Sights featuring a 3-dot tritium notch and post-sight picture with the rear sight blacked out for increased contrast. This design helps eliminate confusion between the front and rear sights and increases sight alignment and accuracy. The front sight, available in bright orange or green, features XS’s proprietary Ember Glow Dot technology, which absorbs ambient light and glows in low light.

March 11, 2020. XS Sights is expanding its efforts to keep customers happy. In addition to its No Questions Asked Warranty, the company announced its new 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee on all of their pistol sights.
