New 7.62mm UTM Ammo?

New 7.62mm UTM Ammo? How’d you like to be on the receiving end of a crew-served going cyclic shooting these?

Remember – it’s all fun and games until someone shoots First Sergeant’s computer screen out.

UTM was founded in 2000 with the mission to provide a safe training ammunition. The intention was to allow military, law enforcement and professional training organizations to ‘train as they fight’ in immersive and authentic training environments and disciplines. The UTM training ammunition was tested by the US military and achieved a 99.8% reliability and safety rating in 2007 and every year since, making it the highest rated non-lethal training ammunition on the market. These rounds have the added benefit of being fully U.S. EPA approved land fill safe, low emission and non-toxic.

The company’s success has led it to landing a major US Department of Defense contract for the Close Combat Mission Capability Kit (CCMCK). Since its approval by the US military, the training ammunition has been used extensively throughout the armed forces and law enforcement communities. Commonly found in 5.56 and 9mm, UTM has been working hard at developing the same type of training aid for 7.62×51 mm NATO weapons and for the most prolific firearm in the world, the AK-47. (7.62×39.)

This is exciting news, because as far as we know there are no other man-marking training rounds offered in this caliber. The new ammunition will be offered in standard boxes or linked for belt fed machine guns, and will be offered in their full range of configurations. This allows the end user to select the type of training ammo that’s most useful for their training goals. This is the brand new 7.62mm NLTA line, to include both 7.62mm x 51 and 7.62mm x 39.

The 7.62mm is available in both loose and linked rounds and all four types of UTM RBT NLTA, Silent Blank Round (SBR), Battlefield Blank Round (BBR), Man Marker Round (MMR) and Target Bullet Round (TBR). In conjunction with the new 7.62mm NLTA, UTM RBT has also developed weapon conversions for the M240B, H&K 417 and FN Minimi (M249) and will be announcing the availability of a new UTM RBT dedicated AK47 weapon soon! Listed below are some of the different UTM round configurations. For more information, check out their website here.
