America: Civil Unrest, Iraq, and the DARE Program

Given the ongoing fuckery with Civil War statues, assorted violent protests, and the seeming conflation of the proscription of First Amendment rights with good taste, we thought this apropos.

Ripped from the pages of Facebook! (by Stephen Hilliard)

The current state of affairs in America has me thinking of 2 things: the Iraq War and the DARE program (war on drugs). Hang on and let me explain.

The Iraq War. When America went to war in Iraq it had the best of intentions. Oust a brutal, defiant dictator and free the Iraq people. We had the best of intentions and we acted quick as hell, but what we didn’t have was a long term, strategic plan for maintaining order among the people of Iraq. The unintended and far-reaching consequences of destroying confederate monuments without any sort of plan or strategy will do absolutely nothing to reduce the white supremacist and/or American nazi movement. As a matter of fact, you are going to see their numbers grow to never before seen sizes because of it. Our leaders and the well-meaning, but ill informed, leftist movements believe that tearing down statutes IS the plan, but they are dead wrong. Much like destroying the symbols of Iraq oppression (their leadership), if the confederate monuments are beacons to those disgusting, racist movements then all they have done is light a fuse. With no plan of appeasement, pacification, or control all they have done is create a rallying cry for these movements.

The D.A.R.E. Program. When I was in middle school and started going to the mandatory DARE programs I had never heard much or really anything about illicit drugs. Do you know what the DARE program did? It shoved illegal drugs in my face and told me ALL about how they were bad and would make me feel funny. As a kid that age I never had access to drugs, but many of the millions of other kids who attended those “rallies” did and you know what happened? Drug use among teenagers skyrocketed in the 80’s. The formerly taboo and hidden subject of drug use was no longer. You were SUPPOSED to talk about it and as a result kids did talk about it, but unfortunately, they talked about it with other kids and scored weed and other drugs at never before seen rates.

A variety of "Liberal Tears" coffee mugs.

I believe the exact same thing is happening and will continue to happen with the white supremacist and American nazi movements. They had become almost entirely marginalized and their numbers were at record lows. They’d show up in movies as rabid, bumbling idiots occasionally, but they weren’t getting the exposure they needed to rally their cause. We are apparently now making every effort to give them as much exposure as possible and as a result Americans will start talking about this formerly taboo subject. Many Americans who had never previously considered talking about white supremacist will talk to a neighbor, dentist, or co-worker and their cause is not going to sound so out of whack to them.

My prediction is that we are entering an era of civil unrest the likes of which we’ve never seen. Until Black Power and White Power become American Power we are screwed. Until Black History month and the notion that every month is white history month turns into American History Month we are screwed. Until America truly makes the effort to become color-blind, we are screwed and the divisiveness and racial tension will continue.

I just wish the author and people who comment would give the fucking “leftist” label a rest as you are generalizing just as anti gun people view all gun owners as right wing crazies or the half wit in the White House does. I may not see the problem with the statues but I can understand someone else’s problem with them and what they represent. I own many firearms but I think there has to be some sensible rules and I find white supremacist disturbing to at the least as well along with nazis but they have the right to march as much I may dislike it. I could go on and on but the thing is please stop using that stupid fucking label as not everyone who voted for Hillary is a closet socialist or those who voted for trump are white supremacists. I hope that makes sense but if not xplain why this does not make sense to you and not just make som shitty comment that makes you look even more close minded. Applying labels is what has gotten us into the mess we are in currently.

Nuance your statements or they will be completely disregarded!

I remember the good old days when Nazis were laughed at with derision. Now the nightly news is showing B-roll footage of them as if directed by Leni Riefenstahl.

No one seems to remember that “punching Nazis” didn’t do shit. Plenty of Nazis got punched in Germany before the takeover. How many people have you ever met that, upon being punched, decided to change their political beliefs? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

You guys have been on a roll. First Hernandez’ article on pretty much the same thing was spot on, then this one. Sometimes, you guys should be mandatory reading for all Americans of character. Too bad most of those leftist snowflakes care more about their “movement” than their country or kids. The old standby applies here: Those who fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it. Evidently, not enough people have died in this country fighting for individual freedom and civil rights. Their stupidity, ignorance and hostility virtually guarantees this will get worse before it even remotely starts to get better.

So just roll the clock back 100 years before the big evil Progressive push happened?

As far as being color blind; why would you want to be? You shouldn’t try to make yourself blind, just don’t be an asshole.

People (typically of the non-Hispanic white origin, wink wink) who are “color-blind,” seem to make a regular go of how blind to history they are by comparing (insert first world problem here) to (horrible genocide or other almost unimaginable atrocity, like involuntary servitude for example).

For me this is the flip side of the “it’s heritage, not hate” coin. Just a shit ton of ignorance to go around for all sides. 🙂

….And I’ll be taking my soap box with me, thank you very much.

Don’t think for a second that effect was not intentional. The progressive ideology is a rule or ruin ideology. And when it’s not ruling, ruining, causing chaos, is it’s preferred method to get back to ruling. The end state of identity politics and progressive/socialism is not pretty.
